There are positions one acquires, and positions VWWhich seem merely to discoVVer the troll already shaped to occupy them. I haVVe occasionally VWWondered VWWhich sort the Orphaner is. It is an odd title, VWWhen considered literally. One imagines that I make orphans. I suppose I do. But an orphan is defined by VWWhat has been remoVVed from it, and I haVVe neVVer thought of myself as a creature of absence. Quite the opposite. I correct excess. The sea produces VWWithout discipline. It sVWWells VWWith appetite. Great things breed beneath it, feed beneath it, groVWW ancient beneath it. EVVery creature imagines that because it has surVViVVed long enough to become enormous, it has earned permanence. If a ship appears on the Horizon, then I am due to folloVWW. That is all ciVVilization has eVVer been. An interruption of something else. The Empire names monsters so that someone may kill them. It names castes so that someone may arrange them. It names criminals so that someone may hang them. And someVWWhere, VVery early in our history, it looked upon the black VWWater and decided that eVVen the things beneath it required an office. I needed an office. An Orphaner. I am not a hunger, a fisherman, an executioner, nor a gameVWWarden. I am an Orphaner. A title concerned not VWWith the thing killed, but VWWith VWWhat remains afterVWWard. Curious, isn't it? #horror #cVWW-death #cVWW-VViolence #cVWW-imperialism #cVWW-casteism
