I prefer to simply treat them as the dogs they are behaving like, rather than remedy the situation how one might a dog they aren't properly suited to take care of. I find far more promising results tucking a riding crop underneath their chin, easing my hand over their muzzle, pushing back their ears, and fur, and chidingly remarking, "Oh. Did Puppy get lost? Did Puppy get confused...? Paws aren't for playtime, poor thing. Come here. Let Mommy set you right. That's it. Nice and easy. Now, roll over." Before even offering the slightest bit of actual intimacy of any sort, the gesture is usually enough to short circuit most untrained brains. I barely even have to slink stockings back over them, or slide into leather pumps before compliance is practically guaranteed. Temptation can be right there, and they will choose to ignore it in favor of fervent fealty. Though it is a touch more involved than your suggestion. Stern corrections or a soft guiding hand? Which builds trust?
