MY FELINE COMPANION IS ONE AND A HALF SWEEPS OLD BY THE WAY. OR THREE EARTH YEARS. HE'S THE CUTEST LITTLE BEAST I HAVE EVER SEEN, AND I WOULD KILL EVERYONE IN THIS GODFORSAKEN ROCK AND THEN MYSELF FOR HIM.
What does he look like?
HE'S A PITCH BLACK CAT WITH YELLOW EYES, AND SHORT FUR.
What a coincidence. My Jinx is the same but with pale green eyes. I always did admire yellow eyes against black fur, though. The juxtaposition can make the eyes look as though they're made of gold.
PALE GREEN EYES SOUND CUTE TOO. AND YEAH HIS ARE VERY VIBRANT.
In cold lighting the pale green turns nearly white. I wish he would sit still long enough for me to take a picture.
The cat wants so badly to play that he cannot stand to play at all. I am reduced to throwing a dozen catnip mice at the door he's hiding behind. I love playing fetch with myself.
HE WANTS TO PLAY HIDE AND SEEK WITH YOU. YOU SHOULD HIDE BEHIND SOMETHING AND MAKE SOME NOISE.
We suffer and toil for them day and night... the price we pay for biscuits and cuddles.
That never occurred to me, other than in the sense that he's apparently appointed me as "it". Perhaps if I manage to tag him first he'll come around to find me next. In a worst case scenario I simply get to enjoy the solitude of closet time.
Let's not forget all the blurry photos on my phone of him sprinting away from me.
YEAH. CATS ENJOY DOING THAT. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE HELPLESS PREY, SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE FEROCIOUS HUNTER. IT VARIES FROM MOMENT TO MOMENT.
It's like they know yer tryin' ta take a picture. And move at the very last second.
I can only envy the sprightliness of their minds as I struggle to keep up. No matter how many years I have dedicated to studying even just a specific feline, I am rarely able to predict what his imagination is projecting onto his environment. But this is what makes them so wonderful.
And now I would know that particular fluffy tail anywhere.
I'VE ONLY COME TO UNDERSTAND THEM FAIRLY RECENTLY. THE ONE I HAVE ADOPTED ME HIMSELF, AND I DID A SHIT TON OF RESEARCH TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HE WAS TRYING TO TELL ME, ONCE I LET HIM STAY.
That is perhaps the most endearing thing of all, to have an innocent animal willfully choose to love you, over everyone else and without the coercion of ownership. They are so skilled at identifying those who would go to such lengths to reciprocate.
At this time of day even the early autumn flies cast long shadows on my pages.
