Not quite, my clownish commenter! While some lusii proVide benefit and protection for their charges, there are others who haVe adVersarial relationships or eVen abandon their charges. There's many reasons why a troll may decide to liberate themselVes early, particularly since there is no longer a mandate to cull trolls without lusii under a certain age. Yes, that is a piece of history that we are required to learn, and internalize and naVigate... but the truth of the matter is that it made sense! At least, in terms of controlling eeckstraneous troll populations!
My real point is that we required one another no longer, and my lusus was free to return to the caVerns to perhaps choose another wiggler if desired, or free to simply liVe her own life. Earth-C simply differs from Alternia. It isn't unheard of for interspecies adoptions to occur. I was not lucky enough to be adopted by any human families, therefore I was raised by a lusus suitable for my station. She was a solitary wasp, so eVen before my emancipation it isn't as if we were deeply emotionally bonded. I do think she taught me some useful ways to interface with the world, of course! But that learning had been completed ages before the socially eckspected terminus of that relationship.
