꧁Hhhello Chittr. I'm actually here todosomething. Uhm. ProductiveIguess. I present to you. THE CURATED! Okay. The premise is that my psionics have been communicating with bulges for quite some time. This is established. This is science. Unfortunately, while comparing too many archived readings at once, I create a feedback loop between my pan, Chittr, and every biological impression I have recorded. Every successfully read Bulge receives an independent physical form based specifically on what I wrote about it. They are sort of. Uhm. Manifested. Bulge-Sonas. I call them Curations. They can speak, they resemble the review more than the original person, and they possess some inherited memories and instincts without actually being the same person. I am therefore responsible for approximately forty new people. This is going to be a superhero story. Sorry. BASIC RULES Strength becomes physical power, Pliability becomes agility or body-control, Length becomes reach or projection, Girth becomes durability, and X-Factor becomes the actual supernatural ability. Taste and scent become motifs or attacks because apparently I have doomed myself to writing things like "his combat aura smells like blueberries." A Curation can sense the person it came from at considerable range, and the reverse works only much closer. This becomes embarrassing very quickly. They start out with horrible names like "Bulge Manifestation Number Whatever." Eventually they name themselves. Some are better at that than others. THE CURATIONS EIGHT-DEE The tutorial character, apparently, because a tiny half-reading still counted. Eight-Dee is compact, energetic, and frighteningly receptive to praise, with every sincere compliment temporarily increasing his physical statistics; unfortunately insults also work if he interprets them as encouragement. His entire combat mechanic is GOOD BOY: +20% EVERYTHING, which makes him a cheerfully humiliating support fighter who becomes increasingly powerful the more everyone yells nice things at him. He is also the first Curation to call me Mom. I tell him not to. He continues. Idontknowwhythishappenedtome. NEUROCOIL [VILLAIN] One of the most dangerous Curations despite relatively low brute strength. Long, elegant, dark crimson, subtly striated, and extraordinarily psionically receptive, Neurocoil moves according to thought before instinct and can alter tension through every part of herself with almost no delay, letting her coil, self-knot, restrain, redirect pressure, and maintain several different grips simultaneously. Physical contact lets her communicate directly with nervous-system signals, notmindcontrol, allowing her to coordinate bodies with horrifying efficiency. She is calm about all of this. Too calm. Hff. LIMEHAMMER Dense, heavy, powerful, green-apple sharp, and built around an extremely stable center of gravity. Limehammer does not bend especially well and has elected to interpret this not as a weakness but as proof that nearly every tactical situation can be solved by hitting it harder; brace, charge, impact, repeat. Straightforward tank. Slightly sour disposition. Increasingly irritated that everyone calls his fighting style ramming despite the fact that it is very clearly ramming. I don'tknowwhathewantsmetocallit. CALDARIUM Unfortunately gorgeous. Unfortunately knows this. Unfortunately has statistics supporting the conclusion. Caldarium is enormous, violet, durable, long, and badly lacking in pliability, with an unstable highblood X-Factor that makes small aspects of his body more dramatic when observed. The larger the audience, the sharper the silhouette, brighter the coloration, louder the voice, greater the apparent presence, and slightly higher the physical output. He believes he is the protagonist. Nobody corrects him because I do not want another chapter. FIGWISP A beautiful violet ribbon-fighter, thin, extremely flexible, hydrodynamic, smooth, and threaded with psionic receptor nodes that allow sufficiently gifted psychics to influence his movement. He can flatten the edge of his body, cut through water at extreme speed, change direction in open air like fabric caught in wind, curve around incoming attacks, and use tension rather than force to restrain targets. His psychic wake produces violet blossoms and fig leaves because apparently scent and taste needed visual representation too. Hff. Itisverypretty. Movingon. INKPRESS Corporate artillery. Inkpress is broad and stable, with glowing blue striations that produce an unnaturally dense fluid capable of displacing attacks, pushing opponents, flooding spaces, or rapidly hardening into barriers, platforms, walls, blocks, stamps, contracts, and increasingly stupid office-themed geometry. A giant DENIED stamp has happened more than once. He insists attacks require authorization and maintains battlefield paperwork. Somehow this works. DOWNTREND Hhh. I am not a big fan of this one! Downtred is shaped around rigid stock-arrow geometry, absurdly strong, functionally incapable of normal bending, and able to launch himself in perfectly straight trajectories at devastating speed. He cannot really turn once committed, only CORRECT, which is unfortunately also the name of his signature attack. His movements leave little red and green ticker-line afterimages, the scent is beer, the taste profile is caegar and nickel, and yes, he would be an excellent jouster. Not in my nook. Not. Inmynook. HONEYGLOW Compact, powerful, bioluminescent, and fitted with small grasping structures that function like climbing hooks. Honeyglow can scale walls, ceilings, vehicles, larger Curations, and basically anything else she decides has insulted her by being taller, while warm gold and violet-blue markings across her body can dim for infiltration or flare bright enough to disorient nearby opponents. She is one of the smallest Curations and keeps attempting to challenge the largest one. I think size registers to her as a personal affront. PRAXIS Mine is pathetic. Thisisdata. Praxis is physically weak, small, barely capable of supporting herself without compensation, and almost entirely dangerous because her psionic control is absurd. She can produce phantom extensions, lengthen herself beyond real anatomy, manipulate objects without contact, wrap around distant structures, compress her physical body while allowing the projected version to continue at full scale, connect directly to my pan, and unfortunately hear the other Curations. All of them. She knows things Idonotwishtoknow. She serves as the team's psionic relay and believes I should be less embarrassed about my work. She is wrong. STAMPede Yes. The capitalization is intentional. He chose it. STAMPede is extraordinarily broad, dense, flat-fronted, and designed around pure forward-impact biology, allowing him to smash through restraints, grapples, barriers, force fields, and most attempts to tell him no. Successful impacts leave glowing bureaucratic marks including APPROVED, DENIED, RETURN TO SENDER, PENDING COMPLIANCE, and occasionally FMLA ELIGIBLE, which nobody has successfully explained. He and Inkpress are attempting to unionize the team. I think. PENTACURRENT Five-bodied aquatic horror. Beautiful aquatic horror. Pentacurrent has one central form surrounded by four additional violet tendrils, each semi-independent and lined with alternating gripping discs, allowing five different actions at once. He can fight while carrying people, anchor himself while pulling something from water, operate multiple controls simultaneously, and perform rescue work with extremely irritating competence. He believes possessing five functional limbs makes him inherently superior to certain other aquatic Curations. This causes arguments. THRILLGILL A regal aquatic duelist, long, slim, highly pliable, and capable of forming temporary joint-like structures throughout his body so an attack can change direction halfway through its motion. Forward. Bend. Sideways. Bend. Reverse. Extremely annoying. Supplemental respiratory membranes provide exceptional underwater endurance, and naturally he has decided the correct fighting style is fencing. He spends an embarrassing amount of time arguing with Pentacurrent about which of them is the proper aquatic protagonist. Neitherofyou. Stop. HALFSCALE [VILLAIN] A symmetrical asymmetry, with one half of the body perfectly smooth and the other lined with reversed scale-like structures. Halfscale can rapidly change which side receives force, making the smooth surface redirect attacks while the scaled surface catches movement and prevents escape; striking her slides away, fleeing her catches, reversing direction just makes her switch again. Excellent grappler. Maple-and-honey warmth. Very pleasant presence. Surprisingly violent. The pleasant part makes the violence worse. OLD FASHIONED No mutation. No strange psionics. No elaborate nodes. No impossible geometry. Just an outrageously strong purple club of a Curation who considers having an X-Factor of zero a point of pride. Everyone else has techniques and transformations and battlefield conditions. Old Fashioned walks through the technique and hits the person using it. Machinery oil, alcohol, blunt force, extremely straightforward. Easy. COMMUNION [VILLAIN] Possibly one of the most strategically valuable Curations, containing psychoactive chucklevoodoo nodes that allow nearby psionically receptive people to share sensation, emotional impressions, images, and fragments of thought. Communion can calm crowds, confuse enemies, induce hallucinations, establish psychic communication networks, and let several Curations perceive the same threat simultaneously. He can also make everyone in twenty feet experience approximately the same very distracting sensation. This is neurological. Itislegitimatebiology. He later discovers that a synchronized crowd is very easy to turn into an army. Bad. TRIDENT CLAW One rigid primary body, two smaller flexible sub-limbs, three grasping ends total. Trident Claw resembles an ancient desert siege weapon attempting to impersonate a person, with the smaller appendages handling most fine movement while the central structure provides stability and force. He grips, climbs, anchors, carries, hangs, occasionally stabs, and spends a concerning amount of time upside down on ceilings. Nobody asks him to come down anymore. LEVERAGE A compact olive bruiser whose listed statistics underestimate her mobility because most of her actual power comes from the surrounding musculature rather than the central structure. Leverage generates enormous torque by moving her whole body around a pivot, fighting through hooks, arcs, sudden telescoping bursts, and the weaponization of other people's weight. Sort of a pile driver operated by an investment firm. She begins asking whether Curations technically count as labor. STAMPede hears this. I lose control of the conversation. WAYWARD [VILLAIN] Flexible, wobbly, thoroughly untrained, and apparently blessed by physics giving up. Wayward possesses no meaningful supernatural mutation and instead survives by being so structurally loose and unpredictable that attacks expecting resistance frequently miss, restraints fail, grapples collapse, and he falls into positions nobody anticipated before accidentally escaping them. He has dodged projectiles by tripping. Statistically mediocre. Tactically infuriating. The disturbing part is that villainy does not make him more competent. It just means all of these accidents happen to us now. WEAK ARMOR Weak Armor deliberately softens under pressure, making each successful hit reduce her effective weight while increasing speed, flexibility, and evasive capability, so the longer a battle continues the harder she becomes to touch again. She fights through redirection, counterattacks, controlled impact, and intentionally accepting smaller hits to build momentum. Uhm. Yes. It is the Pokémon ability. Obviously. Iknewthat. STANDARD No X-Factor. No mutation. No bizarre gimmick. Standard is simply good: reliable strength, reliable flexibility, useful reach, useful durability, reasonable judgment. Everyone spends several missions expecting some enormous hidden reveal and eventually discovers there isn't one. This becomes the point. In a team containing psionic hallucinations, venom, living market corrections and weaponized bureaucracy, Standard is the person sent to open the door.
