For me personally, im not sure there was a specific moment I knew I loved men. I had always admired the male heroines in romcoms and media I consumed, it wasn't until I started elementary school I had noticed a disconnect between me and my peers. Granted, the bigger part to play in my journey was my species, but im sure being gay didn't exactly help in that regard. What helped me to accept myself most was my friend group and siblings. They helped me through the turmoil of accepting myself, and adopting coping mechanisms when others would not. Ah, apologies for being so wordy. I hope this helps, at least a little bit.
