Strips is usually the BEST option, also helps wwith portion control and ration counting. Then it's just a matter of drying it in the morning sun and retrievving it before noon so it doesn't COOK to a crisp. If I happen to be somewwhere COLD I'll adjust to keep it in a predominantly sealed box beneath the snoww. Though smoking and keeping anything fresh in JARS of the beast's owwn FAT tends to help too.
