Hope is something you give yourself.
A storm hit during my journey, and I was fortunate enough to be given shelter by some kind individuals. I was doubtly fortunate enough to be able to see the beautiful animals they had in their pasture! When a young hoofbeast is born, it must get to its hooves immediately. Though it stumbles, falls, and trips, over and over, it never stops trying until it stands upright. Remember: it does not matter if we fall down seven times, as long as we get up eight. https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/17c18ecc68b9.jpeg
We reveal ourselves the most by our actions, not our words. Make sure what you are saying aligns with what you are doing, or else your mind and soul will be greatly imbalanced.
Shared joy is twice the joy, and shared sorrow is half the sorrow. I hope you all have somebody to share your joys and sorrows with, my friends.
Speak only if it improves upon the silence.
Tonight was quite busy for me. I keep running into old friends who usually are not happy to see me. I always offer them a cup of tea, but they never accept! How unfortunate. Friends, if you are someone who is quick to anger, remember: Just one minute of patience can result in ten sweeps of peace.
My pack over my shoulder, walking the road again. In my travels, I have shared much with others, and so too have they shared much with me. Knowledge may be power, but more importantly, it is joy and connection! Is there a sight or a tale from your own life journey that you have been waiting to share?
I hope everyone in attendance enjoys the masquerade tonight, although I’m a bit too old myself, hoho! Sometimes, we must wear a mask to give us bravery, but remember — be careful if you are saying things you would not want to say unmasked.
It is time for me to retire. Remember — it is necessary to rest, but don’t forget that the best way to achieve your dreams is to wake up. Goodnight and goodlight, my dear friends.
It is natural, to believe in something so much you would die for it. To believe in something so much you would *live* for it — sometimes, that is the hardest part.
Life is like a dark tunnel: you can't always see the light at the end, but if you just keep moving, you will come to a better place.
Truthfully, my friends, my road can get very lonely, and I have been walking it for a long time. I thank you all for accompanying an old man, however briefly. I know I have been sharing many poems recently, but sometimes, my memories are the only thing that I have to entertain me. Please allow me to share with you another: “All things I pick up Are moving, awash upon The beach at low tide.”
I was lucky enough to see this beautiful sea featherbeast in flight! Did you know I spent a sweep or two living on a ship? Only very recently have I returned to traveling across dry land. Seeing such a beast flying over the ship was a treat, and a sign of good luck for sailors. However, any fool who shot down the featherbeast would invite *bad* luck on themselves and their crew instead. From these sailors’ traditions, we can learn that kindness invites fortune, while cruelty invites only misfortune…we can also learn plenty of colorful swears, ohoho! https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/2eba97f1e0a1.jpeg
A cup of leaf fluid after my evening meditation, before I get back on the road. Some time ago, a young lady by the name of Damara told me she had been enjoying a fruit-based blend recently, so tonight I tried it myself. Quite delicious! What is your favorite flavor of tea, my friends? https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/0a994471b788.jpeg
It is true that I wear neither my sign nor my color, but do not think it is because I am ashamed of my blood! Those who know me know my hue, and indeed, if you were to meet me on the road, you might be able to ascertain it yourselves: just because I do not advertise my blood does not mean I claim to be anyone but who I am. But all of you here who have listened to me and spoken to me — whether kindly or unkindly — have done so based on the judgment of my character rather than the judgment of my caste. Isn’t that something?
Look! A delicate monarch flapbug, named as such in honor of the Empress, of course. I travelled much during my original deployment from the motherplanet as a youth, and then I settled for some time on a colony planet of little fame or fortune — I have not been under the central Alternian empire in so long that sometimes, I nearly forget what it was like. Nearly, until I come upon a creature like this, of course. To us, it has no power, but still carries a majestic name. And doesn’t that name fit its dignified poise, the way it carefully tends to the flora it pollinates? Remember: a true leader isn’t determined by might alone, but by merit. https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/a506e460c1ca.jpeg
Good evening, my friends! An early start for me today. I hope to share some beautiful sights with you soon. For now, another poem — this one always reminds me of a young man I once knew. A haiku composed in grief by the great Chiojo: “Dragonfly catcher, How far have you gone today In your wandering?”
It is always brave to speak your mind, no matter who seeks to silence you. Do not let fear get in the way of truth.
I must admit, at times I grow quite weary. At times, I wonder if I am doing the right thing, or if the right thing will even be enough. Then I look up at the infinite night sky — these beautiful uncountable stars that take light years to reach us. Were one to die, we would still see its light for sweeps. Merely by turning our heads upwards, we are looking straight into the past! Life is like these stars: even if your actions appear to go unnoticed, the light they shine will last for generations to come. And as the poet Troll Mitski would say, “That love is like a star / It’s gone, we just see it shining / It’s traveled very far.” https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/8b7bc5d19f46.jpeg
Some, shall we say, unwanted company waylaid me on my path tonight. Attacking a poor, defenseless old man, for shame! I managed to protect myself, and was wily enough to have the bandits on the defense — I had an opportunity to cull them, but I spared them instead, and they fled. Will they be back to attack me again? Almost certainly. But I do not regret it, and I will do the same when they return. One who shows mercy does good to their soul, but one who is cruel brings ruin on themselves.
