Loaded question but from what I gather it's putting emphasis and importance on relationships that we take less seriously, ultimately used by the powers that be to force individuals to expand a gene pool of future soldiers, but individuals and groups have their own spin on it. ♡ is love, romantic partners type deal ◇ is companionship, described as pitying. While not fully platonic think like life partners that support one another. ♤ hate, rivalry, opposition. Someone to compete against, someone to challenge you and drive you to improve. They're also not fully platonic rivals either. ♧ mediation, someone to hold you back, someone to make you think on your action. Not limited to romance but can be there to help keep you in check if relationships are going awry but can also just be there to stop you from being a dumbass.
