I think that there is too much emphasis put on the idea of "one true ancestor" when its more likely that there is a lineage of trolls leading up to one's hatching. The slurry isn't exactly clear, and horn casings can only go so far to link a troll to a particular lineage. It was previously part of the cavern-cloistered Jade's duty to keep track of bloodlines, but after certain rebellions occurred, this practice was discontinued as it created "cursed" lineages, aka bloodlines that were often drawn into rebellious thought-patterns due to their predecessors. Make of that what you will.
