Shadow droppers are the undead 8rood that walk during the day, and while they are largely considered to either 8e superstition or merely a hoax, they're all too real. They are not usually seen near ur8an areas due to the population density and drone patrols making it difficult to effectively hunt, 8ut out near rural areas(especially land where the sun 8urns hottest) they are often seen roaming in packs. It is unknown whether or not shadow droppers are directly related to rain8ow drinkers, 8ut they are 8oth prominent fixtures of storytelling in 8oth 8eforan and Alternian media. The main difference lies in the fact that rain8ow drinkers retain their sapience and have a much more unique requirement for transformation. Rain8ow drinkers are exclusive to the jade8lood caste, and it's unknown whether this transformation is a defense mechanism to ena8le them to continue protecting the Mothergru8 or if it is merely a rare genetic quirk of their physiology. As opposed to that, there hasn't 8een recorded data of shadow droppers retaining any sem8lance of the trolls they were in life, though rumors a8ound a8out them feasting on the thinksponges of trolls in order to regain some sem8lance of the self that they had lost. They are also not exclusive to any caste, 8ut an interesting phenomenon occurs after a corpse 8ecomes a shadow dropper, wherein the 8lood heavily congeals and darkens until it is completely 8lack!
