Male stag beetles use their magnificent mandibles as a warning signal to other males, raising them in a defensive or aggressive posture to fight off a contender. The hawk moth, or Sphingidae, have a structure in their mouth called a labral pilifer. This allows them to hear ultrasonic sounds, such as a bats echolocation; and this allows them to better avoid predation. They are also cute. This has been insect facts with Atlans. )
