I sincerely apologize for my lack of posting, and hope to salve the emotional wound of my absence with the following morsel: we all know that the humble butterfly is one of the few creatures who prefer to keep their activity to the harsh Alternian daylight, but did you know that it is this exact overbearing sun that "powers" their ability to navigate? The intense UV light activates a protein called cryptochrome 1, which is an essential biological ingredient for their internal magnetic compass. Interesting, is it not? This has been butterfly facts with Atlans. )

=( Why, Kajika, I'm so glad you asked. The Dynastinae family - or to the layman, the Rhinoceros Beetle, are my favorite species of beetle. Perhaps my favorite species of insect all together. If you'll bare with me enough to hear an Atlans fact, the first bug I ever had the pleasure of caring for belonged to this species; back when I was but a wriggler myself. My lusus coincidentally happens to share certain visual similarities to the class as well. )

=( @archaicCryptid I'm not sure what compels you to come on this platform and tell lies. The people on this forum depend on us for their education on all things #bugs. There are several species of snails that engage in regular cannibalistic tendencies, both on the dead and alive. An example would be the Euglandina rosea, colloquially known as the "cannibal" snail. This species is a fast and voracious predator, hunting and eating other snails and slugs. This has been TRUE insect facts with Atlans. )
Excuse my ignorance but, are snails considered insects? I'm asking from a completely genuine and curious point of view, I'm not trying to be snarky or anything of the sort.

I Don't Know What A Snail Is Nobody Has Ever Explained It To Me
=( If we were to get technical, as per what @mercurialGorepriest said, they are mollusks. However; they are frequently collected and raised by other bug enthusiasts such as myself and I tend to stick to the wrigglerish habbit of lumping it together with them. I suppose, this one time, this was a mollusk fact with Atlans. )
I'm experiencing cute aggression right now. You are just too precious, Atlans.

=( It's been requested that I provide another one of my coveted #bugs facts. Never one to deny the public clues about our planets "creepy" crawlies, I have a pusher-warming point prepared for you. My cerulean fans may be aware of this one already, but even outside of Lusii-distinct species, centipedes are rather attentive wriggler-rearers. When they lay their eggs, they will bury themselves amongst their young and wrap their long bodies around them to serve as a protective barrier from any ne'er-do-wells. If only my own lusus had been so attentive. This has been insect facts with Atlans. )

While I sit here at my breakfast table, admiring the view of the early night sky filtering through the glass as iridescent moonlight, a particular #bugs fact stands out to me. Did you know that trolls are not the only species of insect that orients itself through the celestial? Some scarab species navigate using the Sun, Moons, and glow of our neighboring galaxies as a compass. I wonder, perhaps, if they also dream of what waits for them beyond our Alternian atmosphere, and if they qoukd prove fruitful for an endless galactic conquest? =( I have received my first bug facts request. A loyal follower of mine, @calibratedCalculation , wanted me to lend my knowledge on cockroaches. A tragically misunderstood and unjustifiably hated sect of species indeed; I hold a great deal of empathy for them as a troll also often disliked for no discernible purpose. Cockroaches actually produce antiamoebic as well as antibacterial molecules on their skin, essentially making them extremely clean and resistant to nearly every disease. Common Alternian cockroaches can only carry bacteria about 8 feet on their body before these microbial molecules destroy the bacteria, just like hand sanitizer. If you get sick from a cockroach running amongst your hives, this is far more likely to be because of it tracking around bacteria already native to your living space. This has been the longest bug fact with Atlans yet. )

Did you know that there are more ways to tell the difference between a moth and a butterfly than just what side of the daynight cycle they fall on? The actual best way to tell the difference betwixt the two is by the antennae. Most butterflies have club-shaped antennae with a little ball at the end, whilst moths' are usually feathery, saw-shaped or taper to a fine point.This has been insect facts with Atlans. )
