What doesn't change, however, is the EVENTS that have been set forth. After a masquerade, and some shenanigans that happened there, you got set forth into a game of SBURB. The game started some time ago, with you and seven teammates entering into what is hopefully the first full SBURB session done on CHITTR. The only way you’d be able to describe the session so far is TUMULTUOUS. Lots of torment all around that you couldn’t do much of anything about, ending off with one of the most eventful weeks you’ve had. A majority of your session ended up God Tiered, ending off with you getting STABBED TO DEATH by a enemy DERSITE in the session, SINISTER SCOUNDREL, and god-tiered as a SYLPH OF BREATH. Hello, Chittr. Particularly those who like to attend #RosesPoolsideDriveIn. I have to admit I didn't spend too much time thinking about this lately, so this week's selection might end up feeling a bit flat or rushed. However, I still think it is quite apropos given the season. Tomorrow night's film will be Trick ’r Treat, directed by Michael Dougherty and released in 2007. Set on Halloween night in a small Ohio town, the film weaves together several intersecting stories involving masked children, urban legends, questionable neighbors, and the sort of people who seem determined to make every holiday gathering an occasion for a criminal investigation. It is an anthology horror film, which means we get several varieties of human misery for the price of one, all neatly packaged in autumn leaves, jack-o'-lanterns, and the occasional frankly inadvisable costume choice. What makes Trick ’r Treat particularly delightful is its affection for Halloween folklore. It understands that traditions are often just superstitions that have survived long enough to acquire decorative lighting, and that breaking the rules of a holiday can be considerably more dangerous than receiving a disappointing box of chocolates. The film is playful, macabre, and gleefully cruel, with a particular appreciation for poetic justice. It also rewards paying attention, because details that seem incidental have a habit of becoming rather less incidental later on. So remember your manners, respect the traditions, and for the love of all that is unholy, do not blow out the jack-o'-lantern before midnight. I will see you tomorrow night at 8 pm EST.
