ooc: // the rant part 2: Reminder, racism isn't cool to include in your story if you fail to dismantle the legs it stands on. You can't pull the "WHAT IF THE ROLES WERE REVERSED" card either because it doesn't dismantle the argument; you're often just reinforcing racial stereotypes. I'm tired of getting on any website and then someone's character posts "GENOCIDE ALL X CASTE" with massive hurrahs. Then every person playing a character who's black-coded has to stand there uncomfortably. Aiming for actual equal rights is complex, and it's massively insulting to see people write characters who are supposed to be progressive and nuanced on these topics get turned into "HAHA we should kill an entire caste of people based on an aspect they can't change because they're an oppressor in this fictional story written by a white person." I can't even have trizza have a nuanced conversation about hemoism and classism, without someone immediately just strawman arguing with her. Like I PROMISE you that if she wants to talk about sexism against women on Alternian, people would just genuinely, with their lack of media literacy skills, just "ERHM BUT CONDY IS AN EMPRESS AND A WOMAN." I have many strong feelings about these topics.
ooc: // I think some of you get so much into writing hemoism and forget that it objectively reflects real-life racism and classism. The argument that "well, it's just classism" is an ignorant statement when that is also built on racism. Also, turning a blind eye to the blackness of the fuchsia caste and purple caste while you're white and having your character use language that has been used against actual POC is crazy. Also, stop with the "all purplebloods have big bulges."
((New tablet coming today or tomorrow, I'm very excited :D))
