He wasn't hatched with it, so still considers him 'sign-less', but to him it's a symbol of the lasting impact anyone can have. What I mean, 9r at least what I am attempting, perhaps s9mewhat unsuccessfully, t9 c9nvey, is that there appears t9 6e this 9ng9ing and rather inc9nvenient 9verlap 6etween tw9 9therwise unrelated sets 9f qualities: 9n the 9ne hand, a c9llecti9n 9f traits, ha6its, and c9nversati9nal tendencies that I find c9nsistently irritating, difficult t9 engage with, and, 9ver time, increasingly taxing t9 t9lerate; and 9n the 9ther hand, an entirely separate, yet s9meh9w c9existing, set 9f 9utward features that, despite my 6etter judgment and repeated eff9rts t9 remain unaffected 6y them, register as markedly, and I w9uld argue dispr9p9rti9nately, appealing. And it is precisely this 9verlap, this persistent c9existence 9f what I w9uld n9rmally categ9rize as reas9ns f9r av9idance with what, under different circumstances, might 6e c9nsidered reas9ns f9r admirati9n, that creates a s9rt 9f internal c9ntradicti9n, wherein my instinct t9 distance myself is c9ntinu9usly undermined 6y an equally unhelpful awareness 9f their, f9r lack 9f a m9re c9nvenient term, visual appeal, resulting in a situati9n that is less a clear 9pini9n and m9re an 9ng9ing, mildly frustrating state 9f unres9lved evaluati9n.
