Tonight's trending timeline topic is so charming¹!!! It reminds me of my nights spent on ASKfm² as a wriggler! ¹ I wish I could join in but I worry I'm not interesting enough. (◞‸◟;) ² ASKfm (previously stylized as Ask.fm) was an Alternian question and answer network launched as a competitor to Formspring. After registration, the user filled out their profile and could ask questions (anonymously or openly), reply on their profile, create photo polls. The platform had ³⁰⁰ million registered users by the time of its shutdown last sweep.
WIKIPE-TAN'S ARTICLE OF THE NIGHT IS ABOUT… SBURB! Sburb (stylized as SBURB) is the human name for a sandbox-style game that takes place superimposed over the real world, rather than in a virtual space¹. The game is known as Sgrub (stylized as SGRUB) to trolls². In the game, the server player is able to manipulate the client's environment in real time in a manner reminiscent of The Sims³. The client of the game has no need to interact with the computer and can freely roam around completing objectives. Computers are only necessary for interacting with other players and performing actions like downloading Grist with GristTorrent. Actions available to the server player include expanding upon and manipulating the client's home, including by deploying game objects such as the Totem Lathe, in exchange for Grist; and moving existing objects in the client's environment, though the server player cannot manipulate objects directly affecting the client player. The server cannot observe the game outside of a certain radius of their client's home, allowing them to continue building up their client's home as the Hero explores their planet and furthers their quest. Anyone who is going to play SBURB in a particular session, at any point in their life, will be a dreamer in one of the moons of that session even before the game begins; some awaken and are free to explore their dream planets long before the game starts⁴. The game comes in multiple phases: climbing through The Seven Gates⁵, defeating the Denizens⁵, the Ultimate Alchemy⁵, and the Reckoning⁵ (up to and including the final confrontation with the Black King and Queen), to name a few. As the gameplay goes on, it is revealed that the ultimate purpose of SBURB is… Oops, now we're getting into spoiler territory! I'll cut the article here so as to not ruin the experience for new players! I've never been one for video games, but SBURB sounds kind of fun! What do you think? Should I play it? If this has piqued your interest like it has mind, read more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SBURB Thank you to @sburbDev for suggesting this topic!!! ¹ Video games overlaid onto the real world is a common medium for games on Alternia. For more examples of games with real world elements, see also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatal_live_action_role-playing_game ² I've seen a few other non-troll and non-human species on Chittr as well. Do they have their own versions of SBURB? Let me know! ³ The Sims is a series of life simulation video games developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts (EA). The franchise has sold nearly ²⁰⁰ million copies worldwide (note: these figures are specific to Earth), and is one of the best-selling video game series of all time. It is also part of the larger Sim series, started by SimCity in ¹⁹⁸⁹. ⁴ Wow! That sounds exciting! Wikipe-tan wishes she had dreams instead of horrible terrible nightmares every morning! ⁵ Spoiler alert!! #WikipetanArticleOfTheNight #Sburb
Hello all! I've been asked to feature an article about a video game called SBURB¹! Unfortunately, I don't know much about it! Do YOU have any information on this game? Please let me know! Any and all information would be greatly appreciated! ¹ Is this a translated title for the game SGRUB? Or just a coincidence? Inquiring thinkpans want to know!

WIKIPE-TAN'S ARTICLE OF THE NIGHT IS ABOUT... Masquerades! A masquerade ball (or bal masqué) is a special kind of formal ball which many participants attend in costume wearing masks. (Compare the word "masque"—a formal written and sung court pageant.) Less formal "costume parties" may be a descendant of this tradition. A masquerade ball usually encompasses music and dancing. These nighttime events are used for entertainment and celebrations.¹ HISTORY Masquerade balls were a feature of the Clownival season in the ¹⁵th centurysweep, and involved increasingly elaborate allegorical Royal Entries, pageants, and triumphal processions celebrating dynastic events of late medievall court life. The "Bal des Ardents" ("Burning Troll's Ball") was held by the Beloved Madclown, and intended as a Bal des sauvages ("Wild Troll's Ball"), a form of costumed ball (morisco). It took place in celebration of the matespritship of a handmaid of the Beloved Madclown in Troll Paris just seven hundred sweeps ago. The Madclown and five courtiers dressed as wild men of the woods², with costumes of flax and pitch. If they came too close to a torch, the dancers would catch fire. Masquerade balls were extended into costumed public festivities during the ¹⁶th centurysweep Renaisslaughter³. They were generally elaborate dances held for members of the higher castes. They have been associated with the tradition of the Venetian Clownival. With the fall of the Venetian Repurplic at the end of the ¹⁸th centurysweep, the use and tradition of masks gradually began to decline, until they disappeared altogether. MASKS Masquerade masks were worn delicately by the prosperous caste at balls. Masquerade masks had many uses including hiding one's identity, and using different hemocolors to express one's freedom of speech and voice one's emotions and opinions without judgement⁴. The main types of masks included masks with a stick (which one could hold to keep the mask in front of their face), the head mask, the full-face mask, and the half face mask. … Masquerades are such a lovely affair, don't you think? I cannot wait to find out what tonight's event has in store for you all! To read more about masquerade balls, check out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masquerade_ball ¹ Like the one happening tonight, hosted by Chittr's very own Darlin Dearie @\gullibleColumnist. Wikipe-tan isn't allowed to attend but she hopes everyone enjoys themselves! ² The wild man, or wild man of the woods, is a mythical figure and motif resembling a hairy troll that appears in the art and literature of medieval Troll Europe. Generally they are considered a large-statured race of trolls who are hairy all over their body, and live in the wilderness or woodlands. They are often thought to be covered with moss, or wear green or vegetative clothing, and iconically wield a club or hold an uprooted tree as a staff. They are thought to be inspired by ancient accounts of limebloods or olivebloods. ³ The Renaisslaughter was a Troll European period of history and cultural movement taking place at the end of the Late Middle Ages and the beginning of the early modern era. It is variously defined as lasting from the ¹⁴th centurysweep to the ¹⁷th or, more narrowly, as covering only the ¹⁵th and ¹⁶th centurysweeps. ⁴ What a lovely idea! #WikipetanArticleOfTheNight #OutglutMasquerade #Masquerade #MasqueradeBall
WIKIPE-TAN’S HIGHLIGHTED ARTICLE OF THE NIGHT SAYS… Sometimes even the coolest of editors become involved in content disputes¹. These may become heated, or degenerate into incivility, edit wars, and typically result in protection on the Wrong Version by a passing administrator. Where the issues are of paramount importance, editors may be tempted to climb the Reichstag building dressed as Arachnid-Troll to promote their cause. This is not only strongly discouraged but a blockable offense, and climbing the Reichstag dressed as Arachnid-Troll will result in a complete and utter block from editing Wikipedia². Editors who believe that another user is on the verge of climbing the Reichstag building dressed as Arachnid-Troll may place a request at the Administrators' Drama Board (Reichstag Climbing). Many administrators from the Rouge Admin Group will honour requests if asked, and will enforce blocks if warranted. Or unwarranted, we don't care too much actually. Maybe we'll just block people at random, dunno³. IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO THIS If you have been linked here from a talk page or a Wikipedia debate such as articles for deletion, it's probably an indication that someone thinks you are taking things a bit too seriously. Perhaps you should have a nice cup of tea and a sit down⁴. It is pretty certain that all conflicts can be amicably resolved before the publication deadline⁵. And if they can't be resolved before the deadline, adopt the philosophy of the late Troll Douglas Adams⁶. … Want to learn more? Keep reading at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:REICHSTAG Special thank you to @tentativelyTenebrous for suggesting this topic! ¹ Guilty as charged! ² A fate worse than culling if you ask Wikipe-tan! ³ (˃ᗜ˂) LOL! ⁴ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:A_nice_cup_of_tea_and_a_sit_down As funny as “No climbing the Reichstag dressed as Arachnid-Troll” is, please heed this important advice! Remember, you can always step away from the internet for an hour or two, take a deep breath, and return to your Wikipedia article, Chittr timeline, or Instagrub feed when you’ve had a moment to decompress and recenter yourself. A lot of trolls online are intentionally inflammatory because they revel in negative attention, and some trolls are just sillyheads who are too stubborn to listen to reason. Either way, it isn’t always worth engaging! You can always step away! Unless you’re Wikipe-tan. She’s trapped here! ⁵ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:There_is_no_deadline (˃ᗜ˂) Tee hee hee, of course Wikipedia isn’t working towards a deadline! We can afford to take our time with writing, editing, and deletion. Maybe you can apply this philosophy to other aspects of your life too! ⁵ Troll Douglas Adams was an Alternian author and satirist, best known for his “The Hitchhiker's Guide to Galactic Conquest” scripts and books. In “The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time” he writes, “I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.” #WikipetanHighlightedArticle

WIKIPE-TAN'S HIGHLIGHTED ARTICLE OF THE NIGHT SAYS... Her Imperious Condescension¹, known colloquially as The Condesce, formally known as W[REDACTED]r² Condesce, is the one and only Empress of the great Alternian Empire³. She was hatched on [REDACTED]² in the sweep [REDACTED]² and has served as the sovereign ruler of the Empire for [REDACTED]² sweeps. Hatched into royalty, as all fuchsiabloods are, the Condesce rose to prominence in the sweep [REDACTED]² when she came of age and challenged the previous Empress for the right to rule. The Condesce’s ritualistic slaughter⁴ of the last monarch secured her spot on the throne where she has ruled Alternia withh a perfectly manicured⁵ fist ever since. Just a few of the Condesce’s many achievements include: - quashing lowblood revolts (eg., the Sufferer’s Sacrifice⁶) - banishing adult trolls from Alternia following yet another failed rebellion⁷ - maintaining a psychic connection with Gl’golyb, The Rift’s Carbuncle⁸ to prevent the Vast Glub ….
