This post is prompted 8y @chillerAficionado, who 8eguiled Chittr users into sharing their hair care routine. I do not claim that this is the “Ultim8 Hair Care Guide for Lustrous Hair”, this is a simple explanation of what works for me during deep wash nights. I typically do this every two wipes. First off, we must remem8er that everyone’s hair texture, density, porosity and further complexities will vary. As such, the amount of time this could take you will 8e different, as well as the array of products you will need. Last, 8ut not least, I won’t specify the amount of product you’ll need for each step; that shall 8e for you to figure out while you wash. Additionally, I do this process with cold w8r to prevent hair loss. Step One: Exfoli8 the scalp. Using a hair scru8 that is gentle on your skin is key when you want a full cleanse of the impurities that may 8e stored in your hair follicles, as it will clear away dead skin, product 8uildup, excess oil (grease), etc. You can use your prong pads to apply and spread out the scru8 throughout your scalp with slow, circular motions. 8e careful not to overdo this step, as its 8enefits can 8ackfire, causing dryness and soreness if done wrong or too frequently. And watch the claws!!!!!!!! Step Two: Shampoo. Now, everyone knows what this is, 8ut often forgets the proper way to do it. You must apply this to the roots and massage it as gently as the first step, we don't want to damage our hair. These massages help 8oost 8lood flow and will help with hair growth in the long run. Allow the shampoo to set for a couple of minutes, and don't forget to run your fingers through it (carefully) to magnify the lather as it runs down the wet strands. Depending on your hair volume and length, you may want to do a second round. DO NOT SQUEEZE the w8r out, as our hair 8ecomes 3x more 8reaka8le when soaked or damp. Step Three: Conditioner. This product does NOT go directly into the scalp. Instead, you should apply it from the middle, down to the very ends. Why? 8ecause we don't want to overwhelm our scalp with its thick consistency, as the natural oils we have are often enough to lock in moisture (again, this doesn't apply to everyone). Use your prong nu8s as a wide-tooth com8 while gently running them down your hair, and for the love of Gog, DON'T squeeze the w8r out after you're done letting it sit. I recommend a minimum of 5 minutes for it to 8e effective. Step Four: Hair masks. This is a tough topic for 8eginners, as there is a myriad of options depending on your needs. See Step One, as they're 8asically the same. The amount of time you need to let the hair mask sit may depend on the 8rand you use. Mine is usually 15 minutes. Step Five: Dry your hair. Do NOT use a towel for this. They're too heavy and aggressive, as they're prone to snag, tug, and exacer88 frizz when ru88ed on wet hair. I know a lot of trolls on the higher end of the hemospectrum prefer microfi8er towels for it, 8ut cotton is a cheaper alternative that I'm partial to. A shirt would do the trick, we don't need to 8leed our wallets dry for this step. Step Six: Leave-in conditioner or hair oil. This is OPTIONAL. I often do this while my hair is slightly damp, and I take care to only apply the tiniest amount. Ru8 it together 8etween your palms, and gently apply it to the ends of your hair. NEVER the scalp. I've already explained why on Step Three. Step Seven: Style your hair. This... This one is the one where all of us will have wildly diverse opinions and methodologies for. I will skip going over this one, I trust you all know what works 8est for you. Step Eight: Additional treatments. 8e consistent! 8e thorough with your research on the products you're purchasing and incorpor8ing in your routine. I purposely left out the 8rands that I use so as to not spark a de88. If possi8le, protect your hair from heat and glacial temperatures, as 8oth have a negative effect on hair follicles and strands. Make sure your fashion style isn't damaging your hair, too. Wearing a hat to protect it from the natural elements is never a 8ad thing, so long as it's not every day and for long periods. Let's remem8er our hair needs to 8reathe, too. If you're a seadweller... Good luck. A final reminder that this is my take on what constitutes a good hair care routine, I mean no offense and or harm to anyone who follows this guide afterward. Don't 8e afraid to experiment, most of it is trial and error. ::::)
