WEDDING BANDS. Refreshing and narrowing down the prospective selection of wedding bands onto which I'll stack the eventual engagement ring, and thought I may share my journey with you all as I peruse! For YEARS I have been unable to strike candidates from this collection for love nor money, and have paid no small sum to withhold these exact pieces from mass production. :| Simply been waiting on the right fellow to finally decide to make his appearance! But who bellyaches over a divot in their wallet! Not me! I have dough aplenty to replenish the Future-Mr.-Crocker Wedding Fund!!! Anyhow. Somewhat torn between the traditional yellow gold and the white-gold platinum of the base metal. They could be red-plated, obviously, but once we've finished plating a PLATINUM RING in red tungsten carbide, why don't we mosey on out to the garage and begin slapping bumper stickers from Spencer's Gifts onto the rump end of all my cars? ... I am also open to interviewing designers who may potentially design a custom piece for the band, given they're available immediately and complete the prerequisite legal portion of the agreement wherein they withhold the design as mine alone in perpetuity. So the rings. I try not to faff with the encrustment of diminutive jewels on a piece of jewelry. Flash your rock or don't bother. However, it has been suggested to me that said crumbs contribute to the overall harmony of the design, so whatever. There are a selection of pieces from Troll Roman Malakov, Troll Cartier, and Troll Harry Winston. Which on Alternia I would imagine might have suggested a GUARANTEE of maximum cruelty to bloodstain the tapestry of the piece's storied production. But on Earth-C means the cultural niche of the company is plain old derivative. You know what they say. Those who can't DO... copy. At least on Earth-C. My current through process is such- that of the all-white diamond sets in selection, each could potentially be rendered in red diamond just as easily. Within the sets containing a secondary color diamond, presume the final stone will be red. And keep in mind the metal of each piece may be yellow gold just as easily as the white platinum. I'm not much for the pear cuts this evening in particular. They seem diminutive, like cuts scraping for efficient distribution of a larger raw stone in a budget. And of the rectangular cuts, the Radiance cut (note the numerous facets) may attempt to hide some minor impurities. It's the Emerald cut that feels the most timeless in this scenario. Wide, welcoming facets that invite you to peer within, like a hall of mirrors. I hope I'm not weird in saying that I think the one with two colors (assuming red and not a yellow-gold) is really pretty in concept and would be honestly kinda baller with red/white contrast

My last thoughts on The Thing before I go to sleep; great movie overall with a fascinating setup (preexisting group isolation) and a realistic way that things like trust and communication would break down. FANTASTIC practical effects!! That shit was gnarly for real. This movie being a group of only men really adds to it as an almost case study bit. They all think THEY can lead/take charge of the situation. Individualistic as opposed to an actual group effort. The ending being vague like that did make me question if there was actually more time left in the actual movie, but when I gave it some more thought, I kinda like the open-endedness of it. #najmwatches #thething

✨🍭🕷️ Not much different from your take, although the gendered aspect is a little less relevant. We're kind of all encouraged to be mistrusting of each other regardless of whatever identities we have. Ooh but the ending!!!! Okay so there are two prevalent theories RE whether or not Childs is a thing. Theory one, Thing Childs, points to how Mac's breath is crazy visible in the air and Childs has nothing. Theory two, Human Childs, is that the cinematographer made a point throughout the movie of filming later confirmed things in such a way that they had no light in their eyes, and Childs has eye shines in the final scene. I personally find the human Childs theory more compelling, but the narrative implications of Childs being a thing and giving up to just die with Mac is wayyy more interesting OH OH you might like to read The Things!!!!! Oooooooo, that’s really interesting. I didn’t super notice a Shine In Their Eyes ngl, but that’s worth a rewatch to look more at the details. The end though I really like. My personal thought is that no one survives. Either they make a suicide pact if they’re both human. Or Mac uses the alcohol to burn Thing!Childs and then waits out for the storm to claim him in an effort to also make sure there’s nothing else moving that shouldn’t be. But the last one you mentioned of both Mac and Childs(?) both giving up? Both being tired and calling it quits? That’s fascinating. But, the caveat being that if it was indeed Thing!Childs, him waiting out to die in the cold with Mac and freezing wouldn’t matter, he could just as easily be defrosted eventually by some rescue crew and the cycle restarts. Much to think about. THERES A SHORT STORY FROM THE THING’S PERSPECTIVE?? Omg I’ll be putting that on my read list immediately. Thank you! #cw-suicide
