As time passed, the Vic-to-ri-an trends went out of sty-le and tech-no-lo-gy ad-vanced, maids for their o-ri-gi-nal pur-pose of as-sis-ting in dres-sing and make-up were nee-ded less. Pea-sants, e-spe-cial-ly mi-no-ri-ty groups, were des-pe-rate for work and thus made of-fers to do house-kee-ping, child care, and coo-king, lea-ding us to what we now know as maids. Maids used to be a large chunk of work for wo-men in the ear-ly 20th cen-tu-ry, a-round the 30% mark. #MaidDay
Fun fact: Maids as a ca-reer did not be-gin as the house-kee-pers and chefs/wai-ters most view them as to-day. Maids were first re-cog-nized du-ring the Vic-to-ri-an e-ra and were the as-sis-tants to a-ris-to-crats in ap-ply-ing their fa-shion and make-up, as it was too com-plex for one to do a-lone. #MaidDay
