i mean it kinda comes from the far far fringe a psych abolition. which is a stance that exists, but they're kinda hamfistin it.
They're often misinformed, however I agree is rather awful behavior that can be incredibly dangerous if spread, especially to the wrong people.
by "they" you mean you, the people saying i shouldn't seek help, because you want everyone else to suffer as much or worse than you do.
I can at least understand the stance of not personally wanting to attend therapy due to prior trauma caused by therapy. As long as it's not used to persuade others into not taking the needed actions to improve their mental well-being.
I might dabble in a little wanton destruction and the spreading of misery here and there, but i just want people to remain free agents. Is that so bad?
i mean yeah. also smth smth nuance between bein told to get help (gettin support from a reliable knowledgeable third-person party) vs bein told to get help (healthcare windmill institutions based around compulsory normalcy). <--this is not about depression. that said. despite my yackin, the compulsory stuff is still a lifesaver once in a blue moon, but, yknow. whatever insert your own nuanced conclusion here.
