Soldiers can only travel so far, for they eventually need to eat. Carrying food will slow them down, however; you approach a limit to the distance they can take before they must rest and resupply. Knowing this is key to ensuring your troops are not weak and in poor position.
Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.
