i guess i gotta start thinking about a name change. john was a good name, but it's very much a *boy* name and it's pretty clear that's not me anymore. so the question is, do i stick with the four-letter-j-name theme, or do i strike out on my own?

You don't need to get into the medical side of things instantly. If I were you, I'd try things like putting on some more feminine clothes, trying makeup, and painting nails first. You could also try shaving body hair, if you feel like it, but beauty standards are bullshit anyways. Oh, and try to style that long hair all cute.
