if you're looking for a serious answer, any element or alloy that can be magnetized through exposure to a magnetic field, like iron, nickel, cobalt, copper, etc. if you're looking for an unserious answer, black magic.
They're made of regular troll metal that was exposed to another troll magnet while melted. The little troll bits of molten troll metal all get pulled to point towards one direction, which makes them emit a troll magnetic field in that direction.
