My dear lusus has agreed to help dispose of the trolls too disfigured 8y the fire to recognize! I am eternally gr8ful for her wisdom and kindness. I am told the 8laze that overtook the ward within which I worked last night was cont8ined with very few lives lost. It reassures me that the lime Helpsmen who aid in the suppression of fires are so ready and a8le to assist us, 8e it during the dead of night or sometimes even during the day shift. A gr8 many of them have taken to calling me 8y Swansong, in addition to Lamplady. A 8it of a harsh ja8, 8ut I do my 8est to t8ke it in stride. Another shift ending with the wailing of the condemned. I've 8een asked to head 8ack to my hive, out of consider8tion of my not-insignificant empathic a8ilities. My 8indings upon my ruined eyes are soaked through with tears, and all I can smell is ash. This puts me to mind of a gr8 catastrophe that occurred sweeps ago, when a Helpsman was discovered to 8e an impot8nt Imposter, and allowed for a pocket of natural gas to 8uild up within a coalmine. Rather than requesting aid, or even insinu8ting that he was incapa8le of clearing the gas himself, which would have covered his deficit of powers and perhaps even allowed him to retire from service, the Imposter fled the premises in shame, and a gr8 explosion ripped through the mine. My own 8lindness is attached, of course, to some of the events I have detailed here. Some of these tales are not mine to share, 8ut I thought inquiring minds may enjoy knowing a piece of forgotten 8eforan history. Also, I wanted to think a8out something other than the wails of the newly injured at work. Truly a horrendous situ8tion, and no one is certain what the cause of the conflagr8tion even was! Oh! No. A8solutely not. I can't have an untrained troll hindering my delic8 procedures, there are so many many threads that need stitching and tying, after all.
