My sigh of relief came for both of us, for despite Fallan's lack of cardiovascular function, I could see the comfort plain on her face now that we were safe in the treetops. Peering over the side of the tree branch we'd perched ourselves on, I could see the sunlight bleaching the bottom of the tree in stark white, while further up the trunk remained its tell-tale stygian color.
